چکیده
Six men were subjected to 3500 Hertz pure tones of 1250 millisecond pulse length repeated every 2. 5 seconds for a period of 15 minutes at Sound Pressure Levels of 168 and 178 decibels re .0002 dynes per square centimeter. Temporary Threshold Shifts were measured and compared to temporary threshold shifts induced by similar exposures at lower levels in air in a second group of five men. It was found that the Sound Pressure Level of 3500 Hertz tones in water must be about 68 decibels higher than tones in air in order to induce comparable magnitudes of temporary threshold shifts.

Design of Robust Finite-Time Nonlinear Controllers for a 6-DOF Autonomous Underwater Vehicle for Path Tracking Objective
In this paper, kinematic and dynamic equations of a 6-DOF (Degrees Of Freedom) autonomous underwater vehicle (6-DOF AUV) are introduced and described completely. By developing the nonsingular terminal sliding mode control method, three separate groups of control inputs are proposed for the autonomous underwater vehicle subjected to uncertainties including parametric uncertainties, unmodeled dyn...
متن کاملAutonomous Underwater Vehicle Hull Geometry Optimization Using a Multi-objective Algorithm Approach
Abstarct In this paper, a new approach to optimize an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) hull geometry is presented. Using this methode, the nose and tail of an underwater vehicle are designed, such that their length constraints due to the arrangement of different components in the AUV body are properly addressed. In the current study, an optimal design for the body profile of a torpedo-shaped...
متن کاملLow-frequency amphibious hearing in pinnipeds: methods, measurements, noise, and ecology.
Aerial low-frequency (100-6400 Hz) hearing thresholds were obtained for one California sea lion (Zalophus californianus), one harbor seal (Phoca vitulina), and one northern elephant seal (Mirounga angustirostris). Underwater thresholds over a similar frequency range (75-6300 or 6400 Hz) were obtained for these three animals in addition to another California sea lion. Such data are critical, not...
متن کاملEffect of Underwater Ambient Noise on Quadraphase Phase-shift Keying Acoustic Sensor Network Links in Extremely Low Frequency Band
This study evaluates the impact of underwater ambient noise using seven real noise samples; Dolphin, Rain, Ferry, Sonar, Bubbles, Lightning, and Outboard Motor in three frequency ranges in extremely low frequency (ELF) band. The ELF band is the most significant bandwidth for underwater long-range communication. ELF band which is extended from 3 to 3000 Hz clearly, faces bandwidth limitation. Me...
متن کاملIdentification of an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Dynamic Using Extended Kalman Filter with ARMA Noise Model
In the procedure of designing an underwater vehicle or robot, its maneuverability and controllability must be simulated and tested, before the product is finalized for manufacturing. Since the hydrodynamic forces and moments highly affect the dynamic and maneuverability of the system, they must be estimated with a reasonable accuracy. In this study, hydrodynamic coefficients of an autonomous un...
